LOVE - S P A C E

Needed to figure out a better work space. It looked  like a fabric explosion in my dining room.  Called my bro and asked him about an old family desk that I didn't recall being in his guest room anymore....weird he said, "I was just thinking that desk was taking up too much room in my storage container."  A couple of days later it was at my house.  He threw in a great old chair and a couple of stacking drawers.  Voila!  My new design area very "shabby beach"and I love it.

BIKINI - S H A C K

If I was to open a little shop with all of my little bikini's this is where I would want it to be.  I would paint it bright colors like a gypsy wagon and I would call it "Winnie's Bikini Shack".  All of my potential chickie's can pull into the "shack" on their way to Stinson, pick up the cutest bikini and hop right back onto highway one for a beachalicious day!

LOVE - S E N S E S

Butterfly kisses, the smell of suntan lotion, warm golden sun, jasmine at night, chirping crickets, coffee in the morning, holding hands, laughing and big fat roses are a few of my favorite things.

EAT - D R I N K S

The last time I had a daiquiri I was pregnant, it was strawberry and it was a virgin - the drink that is, obviously not me. It had so much sugar in it that the next day I had the worse "sugar hangover" and I  haven't had once since.  Until yesterday that is.  Super easy to make, didn't add any fruit and it had just enough sugar in it to balance the fresh lime juice.  Icy cold, refreshing and left me wanting more.  Bottoms up.

EAT - S U N S H I N E

One of my favorite soup recipes comes from Nigella Lawson's Forever Summer cook book.  Page 28 to be exact - Happiness Soup. The book automatically opens to this recipe due to the many soup splatters on the page.  All of the ingredients are yellow, super mellow and amazingly simple.   Over the years I have come to  tweaked this recipe and the name to best suit my taste.  I hope you like it as much as I do.
Sunshine Soup
18 ounces yellow squash (2 large)
zest and juice of 1 small lemon
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon curry (recipe calls for turmeric)
4 cups of organic chicken stock
1/2 cup of orzo (recipe calls for basmati rice)
roasted chicken breast - chopped (not in original recipe)
sea salt and pepper to taste

Cut the squash into fine rings and then finely dice them (I used a "slap chop").  Put them into a pan with lemon zest and oil, stir to coat, then cook on a gentle heat for about 5 minutes, stirring until they've slightly soften.

Stir in the curry and pour in the stock and lemon juice and then drop in the orzo.

Cook uncovered, for 10-12 minuets,  until the squash and rice are tender.  Taste for seasoning.  Leave to cool slightly before serving so that you can eat the soup warm rather than hot.  I also find that this soup taste 100% better the next day!  You may find that the orzo will absorb the liquid overnight, no worries just add a little chicken broth or water to thin it out.  Also, love to dip warm crusty bread with a little butter into this lovely soup.

Serves 4 - 6

BIKINI - S T R E N G T H

Please let me have the strength to push on.  Oh, it's really not that bad, just so bummed out that somebody who will  remain nameless, broke my laptop and didn't tell me.  My designs, hopes, dreams everything was on that laptop.  Of course I backed everything up, but I don't have an extra Mac or an extra grand to replace it.   So, literally I wake in the morning and don't know what to do with myself - and I actually think he did it on purpose.  Always complaining that I am on "that computer" and now I am not.  I sulk around the house and shoot daggers into his eyes, back, head any chance I can get.  I know he feels terrible about it and it took him days to admit that he broke it, but won't tell me exactly how he broke it.  He says he'll replace it....hmmmmm.
I am tired of feeling sorry for myself and not being able to be creative, so I am gonna put on my big girl panties  and continue to work on my busted up laptop.  It still works, but the screen is shattered on the right hand side and visually makes things extremely difficult.  This will make me stronger - right?  Yea, someday when I am a famous designer and I am watching my collection go down the runway, I'll say to my team "oh, you see that bikini, I designed the fabric for it on my busted up broke ass laptop!"  and I'll laugh all the way to the bank. Ha ha ha ha!

LOVE - S P R I N G

Our seasons here in the Bay Area are a little out of whack.  We have winter in summer, summer in fall and spring in winter. But the real season of spring  is a lot of rain with a sprinkle of random heat waves.   Oh and did I mention the micro climates?   Tank top and shorts 5 miles north -  parka, hat, scarf, gloves 5 miles south. Basically the bottom line is in order to live here you must be able to adapt to the weather.  We've had temperatures of 70 + for the last couple of days and today I heading to the beach for a little sun, sand and salt water.  See you there!

EAT - S A L A D

I know it's not pic-i-nic season yet but I LOVE potato salad and after watching Yogi Bear yesterday I had a major hankering for some.  Not just any will curb my craving it has to be my mom's.  Ask her and she will tell you that I will eat this for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every in between meal that there is.  And yes, I did have it for breakfast this morning....after all it does have eggs and potato's in it. Yum.

L O V E - S W E E T D R E A M S

When I was younger and couldn't sleep due to "Jason" from Friday the 13th possibly being under my bed I would think about all of the designer clothes I had to have and put outfits together in my head. Eventually "Jason" would leave my pre-sleep thoughts and I would be thinking of cute jeans and fall blissfully asleep.  These days when I have trouble sleeping I envision my self laying on Stinson Beach.  Waves crashing in the background, and the oh so warm warm sun drenching my body until I deliciously fall asleep.  Sweet dreams.

B I K I N I - G O A L S

5 stores and 2 days later I finally laid my hands on it.  The recent copy of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. I barely made it through my front door with my boys trying to pull the magazine out of my hands.  I literally had to lock myself in the bathroom before one of them did.   Page after page of glorious bikini's.  I studied every page, looking for details, prints, stitching and fit.  It was probably the best $7 bucks I've spent in a long time and it made me realize that  my suits are just as good or better and I can do this!
