B I K I N I - B I R T H

I've been racking my brain for the ultimate name for my bathing suit business.  At first it was Winnie London - which I like but then discovered a designer named "Maggie London" and that 86'd that name.  Also some of the names just sounded to "porn" like of course unintentionally but you know how people think.  This is just as hard as naming a baby!!!  and of course this is my baby so I have to make sure people get it and don't associate it with porn, the devil, fruit, god etc.  Anyways, I've made my final decision, there is a story behind the name as well as it reminds me of one of my favorite childhood books but most importantly represents me. Next step is a trip to city hall to get my business licence, buy the domain name and get this bikini baby born.

B I K I N I - B O D Y T L C

My mom just told me that as far as her body goes "every year gets more disgusting".  Yikes....that does not sound pretty.  As for my mom she is being a little hard on her self.  She looks amazing. So I am sure with a little extra effort and her good genes,  I can keep the "disgusting" years at bay.  So I've been slathering  on the moisturiser, wearing sunscreen, drinking tons of water, watching what I eat and trying to work out.  Key word is Trying.  We'll see in a few weeks.

E A T - M E Y E R S L E M O N

They only come out during the winter. A cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange. Small, fragrant lemony orange and intoxicating. I bought my mom a Meyer's Lemon tree one year....I steal it's precious little fruits as I leave her house - she'll never know, right? I use them in all of my recipes instead of regular lemons. I especially love them in my water. If you have issues drinking enough water during the day or don't like to drink water, add a Meyer's lemon slice and it will take you away to a citrus field in Florida. I will shed a tear when the season is over....but until them I will get my fill.

S H O T through the H E A R T

So I've had a set back for the last 2 weeks....it is called winter. I had no idea that doom and gloom, cold yucky weather could affect me so drastically. I chalk it up to finally coming down off of my high.....Adrenaline high that is, and not the bungee jumping, zip line, cliff diving, roller coaster adrenaline. The bad kind - never say no, always say yes, hamster in the wheel day in day out with ridiculous deadlines that will make or break you and your client (NOT). Thank god I am off of that ride! My body has finally settled into a stress free zone and I am actually not feeling numb anymore. So now that I am aware of what is going on with my moods I can better deal with it. Like, sitting in the sun for at least 20 minuets a day, exercise, plenty of water and keeping that sunny beach attitude.

L O V E, Farrah

My brain is bogged down with too many ideas swirling about. I need to focus and finish one look before I start the next. And sometimes I get lost and need to find my direction again. After much thought I found my design inspiration for today. Oh how I loved Farrah Fawcett, wanted to be her but most of all killed for her perfectly feathered hair.

Hey Nineteen

It all started when I was 19 and bought a plain red triangle top bikini. I didn't try it on until I got home and I will never forget the image in the mirror. Gone was "skinny Winnie" and hello Windsor! That was one of the best summers of my life. Me and my red bikini hung out at Lake Tahoe, Stinson Beach, pool side and in the back yard catching rays. Anyone who knows me from back in the day remembers that I spent just about every waking minuet at the beach. I was not going to show up looking like all of the other girls, so I would scour the racks at Macy's and Nordstrom's looking for the most perfect, unique bikini I could find. Fit was key and the simpler more classic the cut the better. I guess I am basically designing for me - just your regular beach girl who loves a great bikini. I designed the majority of my fabric and have had it all custom printed locally. My seamstress is amazing and works with me on tweaking fit and bringing some of my crazy non traditional fabric choices to fruition. I literally can't sleep at night with visions of my next creations dancing through my head. There is no turning back now! See ya at the beach.

I L O V E, seashells

I love sea shells, glossy slick shell pink insides, amazing tribal patterns on the outside and the best part is that if you put a shell up to your ear you can hear the ocean. Really you can, I've tried it many times and have heard the surf roaring in Hawaii, Mexico, France and Africa. A shell is a memory of a time and place, a reminder of an excellent day and has an ability to bring you to the beach when you are far far away from one.

M E A T

Saw this in Cooking Light Magazine yesterday. Made it today. Amazing rich flavor. Try it, I know you will like it. Beef with mushrooms.

Berry goodness

For me eating healthy does not have to be boring and bland. You can take the simplest purest ingredients and make the most amazing and good for you food. I remember when I was in Paris, I had been out shopping and when I came back into the apartment I was hit with the most amazing aroma ever. My dad had just put a sandwich into the oven to heat up. It consisted of fresh baguette, ham and cheese....that was it. Nothing else. Three simple, pure non processed ingredients. That day changed my eating habits forever.
So, today I started my day with oatmeal... Oatmeal you say, oh how boring, not my oatmeal. I cooked up some multi-grain oatmeal, added fresh blackberries and raspberries, sprinkled with a little brown sugar and low fat milk. Delicious!

Ten Pounds Lighter

That is how I feel right now. I haven't lost any weight but mentally I am in the right state of mind for change. I have spent the last seventeen years living on pure adrenaline - not the kind that you get from bungee jumping or cliff diving, but the kind you get from a high stress job where NO is not an option and everything was due yesterday. I have been detoxing from this job since October and now with the new year, I am ready to move on and start my "new life".

Thursday, January 6Th is my official start date. I will be bringing my love of food, lifestyle and lots and lots of bikini's to each and everyone of you. It's going to be an awesome year.
